Complete one share their ultimate guide to networking

The experienced business owner, entrepreneur and Managing Director at Complete One, Glen Lowes attributes much of his success to his diverse and influential network of fellow professionals, and he encourages people to utilise all networking opportunities to build their connections.

At Complete One, their staff and contractors have the opportunity to attend many industry conferences and seminars, providing them with the chance to network.  The direct marketing specialists have shared their ultimate guide to networking.

1) Take your business cards

Although this may seem quite basic, offering a business card is an excellent way to pass on your information, and it will often be an exchange with the connector providing their business card.  “Business cards were something I never used to bother with, however, this year I decided to bite the bullet, and the feedback I get has made it something I never leave the office without.  It doesn’t have to be an expensive option either; there are many cost-effective sites to create your own.

2) Have a great handshake

"For me, there is nothing more off-putting than a bad handshake," said Mr Lowes.  A handshake is like a first impression, and you only get one chance to get it right.   Mr Lowes argues that a good handshake is firm, memorable, and has eye contact.

3) Have an 'elevator' pitch ready

An elevator pitch should be kept short and concise.  In approximately 90 seconds you should be able to convey information about yourself, explain what you do and where you work, who your clients are (if you have any), and your goals for the future. Mr Lowes encourages people to practice their elevator pitch, so they can use it whenever necessary.

4) Build relationships

Mr Lowes believes it is important to get to know people on both a personal and professional level and that it is important to build relationships.  “Don't expect overnight miracles, it takes time for people to develop confidence in you and you need to invest time into those relationships to reap the benefits.” Said Mr Lowes.

5) Quality over quantity

Mr Lowes firmly believes that a good network is one that consists of quality connections rather than volume.  “Make sure you assemble a diverse and quality network of individuals who can progress your business development.  While it can be tempting to acquire as many connections as possible, it is important to make sure people you connect with serve a purpose."

Complete One is an award-winning events promotions firm based in the heart of Newcastle City Centre.  Their expertise lies in increasing market share and raising brand awareness for their clients, through face-to-face promotional marketing and sales campaigns at events and venues throughout the North East.  Managing Director Glen Lowes is passionate about coaching, and he offers his advice and knowledge to budding entrepreneurs, encouraging them to network and build connections.

Complete One Celebrate Prosperous Year with Bond theme Christmas party

Newcastle-based events marketing specialists, Complete One, marked a prosperous year with a James Bond themed Christmas party on Saturday, December 3rd.

The Complete One Christmas party, held at the Genting Casino, was a great opportunity for the firm’s staff and contractors to relax, have fun, and receive recognition for their hard work and efforts this year.  Managing Director, Glen Lowes handed out certificates on the night, including top performer, most consistent and future business owner, celebrating and rewarding the firm's top performers and 'rising stars'.

With only a matter of weeks till the New Year, Managing Director at Complete One, Glen Lowes has been reflecting on the firm's activity in 2016.

In March, the company hosted a future business owner’s weekend at Felmoor Park, Northumberland.  Just a short distance from the firm’s headquarters, the location provided attendees with a surrounding of idyllic scenery, and a quiet getaway with cabins and hot tubs. There were educational workshops with tips on personal development and networking, as well as a Skype call with sales and marketing professionals in America and Australia.

On Saturday 21st May, Complete One attended the Sales and Marketing Black Tie Awards Gala in London where Managing Director, Glen Lowes, along with one of the firm’s top performing contractors Jiří Holouš, were among the award winners.   Held at the 5 Star Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s Mayfair, the Black Tie event is one of the standout events in the sales and marketing calendar.

In July, Mr Lowes flew out to Los Angeles to spend five days networking and shadowing some of the most influential and successful sales and marketing professionals in the industry, providing him with tremendous insight into the day-to-day running of their businesses.  The trip proved to be inspiring and led to the introduction of new streamlined processes at Complete One.

In the third financial quarter, Complete One travelled to Tenerife for a well-earned R&R getaway.  Held from the 13th to the 16th of October,  Mr Lowes and a select group of the firm's top performing contractors and administrators, enjoyed time away from the hustle and bustle of the office environment for some well-earned rest.

One of Mr Lowes primary objectives for Complete One in 2016 was to raise the firm's brand profile, and he took massive strides towards that goal when the company secured a sponsorship deal with Newcastle Falcons rugby team, in November.  As part of the sponsorship package, Complete One received a signed shirt, hospitality tickets, a stadium announcement, their name and logo advertised on the big screen and in the player biography of the match day programme. Additionally, a stadium announcement is made when their sponsored player scores, as well as match day tickets to a game of the firm's choice, which the Complete One put to use when the Falcons, took on Exeter.

Managing Director at Complete One, Glen Lowes has had many speaking engagements this year, being invited to share his knowledge at conferences and seminars throughout the UK.  “2016 has been an exciting year, and I am excited about what’s in store for 2017.  We have an incredible group of people, and I am confident 2017 will be our best year yet.” Said Mr Lowes.

Complete One host workshop on maximising the 1440 minutes of every day

Newcastle-based outsourced sales and marketing firm, Complete One argue that effective time management is what separates those that achieve average results from the individuals that achieve extraordinary ones. This week the firm held a workshop on maximising the 1440 minutes of every day.

Entrepreneur, business owner and Managing Director at Complete One, Glen Lowes, believes that providing ongoing education is the key to success. This week Mr Lowes hosted a company-wide workshop on maximising the 1440 minutes of every day.

Mr Lowes believes that successful people know how to manage time and therefore are able to complete lots of tasks with the 24 hours everyone has. During the two-hour workshop, Mr Lowes shared his three top tips for effective time management.

1. Take responsibility and control
The first step to controlling time is taking responsibility for it. “You have to own your time and take responsibility for yourself and your actions,” said Mr Lowes. Complete One argue that many people complain about not having enough time, however, successful people have the same amount of time each day as those that are unsuccessful, they just use it wisely. Mr Lowes stated that, “time isn’t working against you; it’s meant to work for you.”

2. Work in time intervals
Complete One state that in order to maintain the motivation to pursue goals and maximise every hour of every day, it’s crucial to work in small time intervals. With people’s attention spans getting shorter, it might be necessary to work in focused intervals if needed. Complete One suggest working in 15 minuteintervals, giving a task complete concentration and if that’s too short, moving to 30 minute intervals.  “Do whatever it takes to be productive and accomplish your goals. Control your time don’t be consumed by it,” said Mr Lowes.

3. Eliminate wasteful activities
The biggest consumer of time is pointless tasks that don’t contribute to the bigger picture claims Complete One. Mr Lowes encouraged the firm’s contractors to assess their schedule and to make a list of every activity they do on a daily basis that doesn’t help them to progress towards their goals. For example, for most people, social media or technology can prove to be incredibly distracting and wastes tremendous amounts of time. “By identifying the tasks that are not productive, and eliminating them it provides more time to focus on the tasks that count,” said Mr Lowes.

“There is inevitably a link between time management and productivity.  If people want to achieve optimum productivity levels, they have to master their time first,” said Managing Director, Glen Lowes.

Complete One: Why being a good listener is vital to becoming successful in business

Sales and marketing specialists Complete One urge people to fine-tune their listening skills to maximise potential success rates.

Newcastle-based Complete One are confident that fine-tuning listening skills can enhance personal success across a variety of business situations. When building relationships and networking within business activities, professionals can be too keen to promote their abilities and accomplishments - it's important to understand the real asset they have is to listen and take an interest in those around them to achieve strong business links.

Complete One share their top tips on enhancing those listening skills:

1. Make eye contact – When establishing or maintaining a new relationship, it is crucial to engage and collect a better understanding of a given situation. A clear indicator of interest in a conversation is good eye contact and NVC (non-verbal communication). The firm is confident that personal connections will be enhanced if eye contact and NVC is kept positive during a discussion.

2. Only ask one question at a time – When listening to a conversation, it is good practice to wait until the end to ask any inquiries to avoid too many interruptions or redundant questions that would instead be covered by the speaker. When raising queries, Complete One believe it is important to only challenge one at a time.

3. Pay attention – Regardless of multitasking ability, it is bad practice to become distracted when someone is speaking. Instead, pop down any mobile devices and engage fully, taking in all the conversation has to offer.

4. Do not talk – It is important when listening, to fully do so. It is easy to shut a person down with questions or feedback, but instead allow the other person time to speak and relay their information and opinions before responding.

Complete One offer mentoring services to local entrepreneurs and a  common topic that often arises is how to improve listening skills, and the impact on personal relationship development. “When looking after another brand's customers, it is crucial to gather a full understanding of a consumer’s situation to maximise customer experience and build a positive relationship. Our independent contractors are developing new skills in listening and evaluating a client’s needs,” says Glen Lowe’s Managing Director of Complete One.

What does it take to be successful? Complete One shares their five traits for success

With many young entrepreneurs looking for guidance on their journey towards success, Newcastle’s premier marketing firm Complete One share their top 5 traits linked to success.

Being able to develop a coercive team environment can be instrumental to businesses when looking to achieve success. Complete One is no stranger to managing successful marketing campaigns, and they attribute part of their success to attracting and retaining entrepreneurially minded people.

Complete One is confident their free workshops assist entrepreneurs in achieving success in their daily projects. A popular free workshop ran for the company’s independent contractors explores the top 5 traits of successful people.  The firm hopes to inspire healthy habits in young entrepreneurs.

Complete One share the top 5 traits and qualities that are most heavily linked to successful people:

1. Capacity - Initial assessments on individual ability and suitability of task are essential on the businesses journey to success. While it is great to challenge people, it can be detrimental to personal development if a task is unachievable. Clear communication on daily duties will allow an individual to assess if they are suitable for a job, and they should be encouraged to ask for help when needed.

2. Attitude – A positive attitude is essential when approaching a particular task. People who practice positive behaviours and thoughts are more successful than those who are unable to tackle obstacles mentally. The firm assesses attitudes by placing individuals in set scenarios and observing actions and responses to obstacles they encounter. The firm offers additional coaching on how to improve their coping strategies when faced with challenging situations.

3. Passion – Passion will push an individual through adverse situations. People who select projects close to their personal ideals can naturally demonstrate enthusiasm and will achieve more success. Generally speaking, entrepreneurs should source business opportunities which match their overriding beliefs and goals.

4. Character – When faced with challenging situations, a person's character will keep them on the right track to achieving goals while maintaining integrity. Entrepreneurs who are looking to succeed need to demonstrate robust and trustworthy characteristics to open further business opportunities. Complete One believes a commitment to developing a steadfast company culture should lie with the company.

5. Teamwork – Most people will need to integrate into a team during a project. Individuals who can communicate their weaknesses and promote personal strengths will become the stronger team members. Successful teams demonstrate respect for each person involved in a project. A team should be briefed individually on their role, and understand the importance of each stage of development. Complete One has found that individual accountability is key to a team’s success.

Complete One is keen to boost their Independent Contractors potential as it transfers into their sales ability. The firm can secure repeat business through their capacity to maintain Newcastle’s top sales people.

Are you living up to the responsibility you have to your customers?

For a business to maintain their customer-centricity, direct sales and marketing firm Complete One recommends business owners to evaluate the contribution they are making to consumers on a daily basis.

Complete One are confident that all aspects of a business need to face their responsibility to consumers. In a customer-focused business model, it is important that each department is in tune with the company's overarching brand message, and ensure that their individual processes reiterate the message to offer a consistent service throughout every consumer touch point. Consumers are all about the ‘brand experience,' and this can be a fundamental reason why businesses are struggling to establish brand loyalty.

Complete One offers a five-step guide to developing a stronger customer-centric business:

1.    Complete One believes corporate goals can be a quick initial step to draw attention to consumer contribution. Once the goal has been set, it is important to communicate it throughout the business, and it can be beneficial to occasionally share this with the consumer.

2.    Complete One advises businesses to create accountability throughout all departments by requesting information on how precisely they contributed to the customer experience on a specific day. Use the feedback from these results to gauge the effectiveness of current processes, and offer
additional support where needed.

3.    Follow-up is crucial, and it is important to offer simple meetings that focus on consumer contributions. Use these meetings to brainstorm how to streamline processes, as it is important to always take the perspective of the buyer.

4.    Gather market research on consumer desires. Complete One suggests that businesses should ensure that they are developing strategies on exactly what the customer wants, as opposed to what the company wants the consumer to want.

5.    Share the news when the company is getting it spot on, or making progress towards a customer experience goal.  Social Media platforms are perfect for bragging.

Newcastle-based Complete One is an award-winning events promotions firm based in the heart of Newcastle's city centre. Their person to person promotions is renowned for creating amazing results. The company's clients are often a walking billboard for their ability to devise out of the box marketing strategies that guarantees  ROI.

Complete One is confident in their capacity to develop customer-centric campaigns as their approach is solely based on enhancing the customer experience.  Each client interaction is tailored on the spot, and the firm delivers effective and personalised opportunities for brands to be promoted in a selected and accurately targeted area.
