Complete One host workshop on maximising the 1440 minutes of every day

Newcastle-based outsourced sales and marketing firm, Complete One argue that effective time management is what separates those that achieve average results from the individuals that achieve extraordinary ones. This week the firm held a workshop on maximising the 1440 minutes of every day.

Entrepreneur, business owner and Managing Director at Complete One, Glen Lowes, believes that providing ongoing education is the key to success. This week Mr Lowes hosted a company-wide workshop on maximising the 1440 minutes of every day.

Mr Lowes believes that successful people know how to manage time and therefore are able to complete lots of tasks with the 24 hours everyone has. During the two-hour workshop, Mr Lowes shared his three top tips for effective time management.

1. Take responsibility and control
The first step to controlling time is taking responsibility for it. “You have to own your time and take responsibility for yourself and your actions,” said Mr Lowes. Complete One argue that many people complain about not having enough time, however, successful people have the same amount of time each day as those that are unsuccessful, they just use it wisely. Mr Lowes stated that, “time isn’t working against you; it’s meant to work for you.”

2. Work in time intervals
Complete One state that in order to maintain the motivation to pursue goals and maximise every hour of every day, it’s crucial to work in small time intervals. With people’s attention spans getting shorter, it might be necessary to work in focused intervals if needed. Complete One suggest working in 15 minuteintervals, giving a task complete concentration and if that’s too short, moving to 30 minute intervals.  “Do whatever it takes to be productive and accomplish your goals. Control your time don’t be consumed by it,” said Mr Lowes.

3. Eliminate wasteful activities
The biggest consumer of time is pointless tasks that don’t contribute to the bigger picture claims Complete One. Mr Lowes encouraged the firm’s contractors to assess their schedule and to make a list of every activity they do on a daily basis that doesn’t help them to progress towards their goals. For example, for most people, social media or technology can prove to be incredibly distracting and wastes tremendous amounts of time. “By identifying the tasks that are not productive, and eliminating them it provides more time to focus on the tasks that count,” said Mr Lowes.

“There is inevitably a link between time management and productivity.  If people want to achieve optimum productivity levels, they have to master their time first,” said Managing Director, Glen Lowes.

Complete One: Why being a good listener is vital to becoming successful in business

Sales and marketing specialists Complete One urge people to fine-tune their listening skills to maximise potential success rates.

Newcastle-based Complete One are confident that fine-tuning listening skills can enhance personal success across a variety of business situations. When building relationships and networking within business activities, professionals can be too keen to promote their abilities and accomplishments - it's important to understand the real asset they have is to listen and take an interest in those around them to achieve strong business links.

Complete One share their top tips on enhancing those listening skills:

1. Make eye contact – When establishing or maintaining a new relationship, it is crucial to engage and collect a better understanding of a given situation. A clear indicator of interest in a conversation is good eye contact and NVC (non-verbal communication). The firm is confident that personal connections will be enhanced if eye contact and NVC is kept positive during a discussion.

2. Only ask one question at a time – When listening to a conversation, it is good practice to wait until the end to ask any inquiries to avoid too many interruptions or redundant questions that would instead be covered by the speaker. When raising queries, Complete One believe it is important to only challenge one at a time.

3. Pay attention – Regardless of multitasking ability, it is bad practice to become distracted when someone is speaking. Instead, pop down any mobile devices and engage fully, taking in all the conversation has to offer.

4. Do not talk – It is important when listening, to fully do so. It is easy to shut a person down with questions or feedback, but instead allow the other person time to speak and relay their information and opinions before responding.

Complete One offer mentoring services to local entrepreneurs and a  common topic that often arises is how to improve listening skills, and the impact on personal relationship development. “When looking after another brand's customers, it is crucial to gather a full understanding of a consumer’s situation to maximise customer experience and build a positive relationship. Our independent contractors are developing new skills in listening and evaluating a client’s needs,” says Glen Lowe’s Managing Director of Complete One.

What does it take to be successful? Complete One shares their five traits for success

With many young entrepreneurs looking for guidance on their journey towards success, Newcastle’s premier marketing firm Complete One share their top 5 traits linked to success.

Being able to develop a coercive team environment can be instrumental to businesses when looking to achieve success. Complete One is no stranger to managing successful marketing campaigns, and they attribute part of their success to attracting and retaining entrepreneurially minded people.

Complete One is confident their free workshops assist entrepreneurs in achieving success in their daily projects. A popular free workshop ran for the company’s independent contractors explores the top 5 traits of successful people.  The firm hopes to inspire healthy habits in young entrepreneurs.

Complete One share the top 5 traits and qualities that are most heavily linked to successful people:

1. Capacity - Initial assessments on individual ability and suitability of task are essential on the businesses journey to success. While it is great to challenge people, it can be detrimental to personal development if a task is unachievable. Clear communication on daily duties will allow an individual to assess if they are suitable for a job, and they should be encouraged to ask for help when needed.

2. Attitude – A positive attitude is essential when approaching a particular task. People who practice positive behaviours and thoughts are more successful than those who are unable to tackle obstacles mentally. The firm assesses attitudes by placing individuals in set scenarios and observing actions and responses to obstacles they encounter. The firm offers additional coaching on how to improve their coping strategies when faced with challenging situations.

3. Passion – Passion will push an individual through adverse situations. People who select projects close to their personal ideals can naturally demonstrate enthusiasm and will achieve more success. Generally speaking, entrepreneurs should source business opportunities which match their overriding beliefs and goals.

4. Character – When faced with challenging situations, a person's character will keep them on the right track to achieving goals while maintaining integrity. Entrepreneurs who are looking to succeed need to demonstrate robust and trustworthy characteristics to open further business opportunities. Complete One believes a commitment to developing a steadfast company culture should lie with the company.

5. Teamwork – Most people will need to integrate into a team during a project. Individuals who can communicate their weaknesses and promote personal strengths will become the stronger team members. Successful teams demonstrate respect for each person involved in a project. A team should be briefed individually on their role, and understand the importance of each stage of development. Complete One has found that individual accountability is key to a team’s success.

Complete One is keen to boost their Independent Contractors potential as it transfers into their sales ability. The firm can secure repeat business through their capacity to maintain Newcastle’s top sales people.

Complete One host future business owners R&R weekend

Managing Director at Newcastle-based event promotions firm, Complete One, Glen Lowes, has hailed the success of the firm’s first future business owners event, and believes it will now become an annual event in the firm’s business calendar.

Glen Lowes decided to host the event to bring together the top talent at Complete One, and their business associates in Edinburgh and Sheffield, recognising the rising stars and the top performers. The decision to host the event was spurred by the idea of providing some much needed R&R time as well as an opportunity for attendees to build relationships outside of the office environment, and interact with fellow sales and marketing professionals who are on the same entrepreneurial journey.  “My main objective for the future business owners event was to recognise those individuals who are doing a great job, and to host a fun and relaxing weekend where they could unwind and get to know each other on a personal as well as professional level,” commented Glen Lowes.

Hosted at Felmoor Park in Northumberland over March 18th to 20th, just a short distance from the firm’s headquarters, the location provided a surrounding of idyllic scenery, and a quiet getaway with cabins and hot tubs. While there was no strict itinerary for the event, with the emphasis more on fun and relaxation, there was a slight business theme, with the business owners in attendance running educational workshops with tips on personal development and networking. Networking was an especially important topic as the weekend presented an incredible opportunity for the budding entrepreneurs to build a solid networking portfolio.

The feedback Glen Lowes has received since the event has made him extremely hopeful that this will now become an annual event and will continue to grow, year on year.

Complete One reviews: What makes an entrepreneur tick?

Managing Director of sales and marketing company Complete One, Glen Lowes, has been hugely inspired by the story of Jordan Belfort and how he has had such incredible successes along his entrepreneurial journey. Jordan Belfort now inspires others to have the same success through motivational speeches and workshops, so Complete One were excited when Jordan Belfort revealed on his personal blog what he believes makes an entrepreneur tick. The firm has reviewed Jordan Belfort’s findings:

There’s always room for improvement

Entrepreneurs tend to use their own needs to spot where something can be improved or created. For example, the story that Jordan Belfort highlights is that a man named Seth Goldman has a problem. He has just finished a run in Central Park, he’s thirsty, and he is looking for a bottled drink with more flavour and less sweetness. However, nothing like this exists. So, teaming up with a business partner, Barry Nalebuff, Goldman creates the exact product that he had been searching for, a better tasting tea, made with better ingredients. Entrepreneurs spot the need for a product in the market and then think: ‘If someone is going to make this then why can’t it be me?’ points out Complete One.

An entrepreneur is born

Entrepreneurs don’t have to show signs of extraordinary entrepreneurial skills in their youth. The beauty of entrepreneurship is that there is no age limit, points out Complete One. People become entrepreneurs because they are confronted with a problem and instead of ignoring it they get into thinking: ‘there’s got to be a better way.’ They start looking at the possibilities and then they start forming their vision.

Staying honest

Everybody sets their own standards and it is important for entrepreneurs to define theirs and then stick to them. Consumers are more likely to respect a business that upholds its values. Jordan Belfort points out that some standards need to be moved but not so far that it goes against the company’s original values completely; and that the product no longer upholds the values that originally attracted consumers.

Be flexible, but stick to your guns

Every business begins with an idea. Every business grows with a vision. Every business is sustained by customer loyalty. And every business fails when its vision is lost. Entrepreneurs often have to compromise. So entrepreneurs have to decide what they are willing to compromise on. This will play a big part in their future success.

Complete One is an outsourced sales and marketing firm based in Newcastle. The firm specialises in a personalised form of marketing which allows them to connect with consumers on a one-to-one basis via face-to-face marketing techniques. This often leads to long-lasting and personal connections between brand and consumer as well as increased customer acquisition, brand awareness and brand loyalty for their clients.

Complete One works closely with young professionals in order to help them develop into successful entrepreneurs. The firm’s Business Development Programme helps to teach young aspiring entrepreneurs the skills needed to be a success. Complete One looks up to people such as Jordan Belfort for inspiration on how to instil a sense of entrepreneurship in young people.

Complete One: 5 Things Successful People Do Every Evening

Every successful entrepreneur has a routine and has formed habits to help them achieve their success.  Complete One provide 5 top tips to do each evening to ensure a successful next day.

Having an evening routine is crucial for winding down and getting enough sleep to be able to perform to the best of their abilities the next day. Complete One’s Managing Director, Glen Lowes said. “My night time routine is one of the most important parts of my day”.  Here, Complete One share 5 things successful people do every evening.

1: Spend Time with Family

Entrepreneurs don't have the luxury of 9 to 5 working hours and can often struggle to have a work – life balance. Taking time away from work to spend with family has a calming influence and provides a sense of well being. Also importantly, spending time with family means they are more likely to be supportive.

2: Read

Successful people are always looking for ways to learn and reading is an excellent source of knowledge. It is important that the readings aren't always about topics related to work. Reading fiction or non-fiction can often have the added benefit of providing a different insight that could then be applied to work life. Reading purely for enjoyment is a great way to relax and unwind. Old fashioned books and magazines are the way to go as a study by the National Institute of Health suggests that reading tablets or eReaders can be disruptive to sleep because of the light.

3: Plan for the day ahead

Having a well set out plan for the day ahead can calm the mind as it allows the individual to rest in the knowledge that the day ahead is prepared for. Just before going to sleep is often the time when the brain goes into overdrive and many people can struggle to switch off. Having a plan puts to rest concerns about the following day.

4: Turn off phone and other devices

The biggest distraction facing people in the modern world is their phones and computers; Complete One says that switching them off will stop any temptation. Notifications from mobile phones, computers, and tablets are needless distractions when trying to drift off to sleep. It is useful to have a notepad and a pen on the night stand to note any ideas that may come to mind in night time, when they occur.

5: Get 7 hours of sleep

There have been many studies conducted to find the answer to the question, how much sleep does a person need? One of the most recent studies suggests that 7 hours is the right amount. Getting enough sleep is crucial to ensure maximum memory and brain performance. Of course as an entrepreneur there can be instances where 7 hours just isn't possible, however when possible get 7 hours of sleep.

As a Direct Marketing Company, Complete One specialise in below-line customer acquisition. The firm’s main focus is to bridge the gap between clients and consumers using events based marketing campaigns. The firm’s history of clients has included several of the UK's leaders within the Charity, Finance, Online Film & Media and Telecommunications sectors.

Complete One Attend The National Sales Rally 2014

At Complete One we've kicked off 2014 with a bang! We attended the National Sales Rally in London this past weekend. It's an opportunity for the people in our industry who are performing well consistently to be recognised for their achievements in 2013 by receiving an award. The ceremony was attended by over 2000 people with over 100 awards given out on the day. Complete One and our business partners were among the winners for a second year running!

Winners on the day were;

Kirsty Pennal ~ Top performer

Jade Patten ~ Rising Star

MD Glen Lowes ~ Outstanding Achievement Award

Picking up the outstanding achievement award for the second year running I felt a great sense of personal achievement. Last year was my most successful year so far as a business owner and I can't wait to improve on my achievements to make it a hat-trick at next years ceremony”. ~ Managing Director Glen Lowes

Attending this rally has given everyone a great benchmark for us to work towards and ensure we beat in 2014. We are expecting to double in size in the first half of this year and expand to be trading from 4 office spaces in the UK. The rally is a great motivational tool as people are able to see with their own eyes how successful individuals can be in this business. It also creates fantastic competition as people are already taking about who's going to win the awards next year. If we thought 2013 was a good year, wait and see what 2014 will bring!

Complete One Reflect On A Successful Year

At Complete One we have been reflecting on the success we experienced over the last twelve months. The first half of 2012 we very much concentrated on laying the foundations. We began 2013 with one office in Newcastle then saw our business double in size with our expansion into Glasgow, Scotland this Summer with Karl Whittam overseeing our new project.  As our business began to expand so did our client portfolio simultaneously. We acquired a new client within the Finance sector which was a great coo as they have been voted the finance provider of the year for the past 4 years.

In October, Harley Woolf became our second success story of 2013 completing the Business Development Programme . Having Harley in a position to oversee his own project provided us with the opportunity to add to our ever growing client portfolio. In early November we acquired one of Europe's newest Online Film & Media companies. They are currently injecting millions of pounds into marketing their product and service to massively increase their brand awareness in the UK. Having previously completed a hugely successful marketing campaign for one of Europe's leaders in this sector, earlier in the year, Complete One were selected to run their sales campaign in the North East.

In statistical terms 2013 has been a tremendous year;

* We've doubled our business in size and saw a 300% growth in the number of people working with Complete One.

* 10,000 customers have been acquired for our clients

* Our turnover was £250,000

This year we travelled a lot, visiting Barcelona, Dublin, London and Waterford, setting up new networking partnerships and establishing new client relationships.

“Going into 2013 I couldn't have predicted the ups and downs that I would have experienced as a business owner. I feel that I am ending the year much more experienced and stronger. The last Financial Quarter saw tremendous growth for Complete One and I am excited to build on that growth in 2014.” ~ Managing Director Glen Lowes

Complete One's Latest Success Story: Harley Woolf

I grew up in a small town on the outskirts of Leeds. From a young age I had a business mind and always dreamed of being my own boss. I put my business acumen into action while at school when I set up a tuck shop hoping this would put me on track to make my millions. Unfortunately the tuck shop didn't set me up to be the next Richard Branson. Turning towards a more realistic career prospect, at the age of 16 I decided to take a job in retail in the hope of progressing through the company and work my way up the corporate ladder.

After a year and a half of working in a retail environment, having not been provided with any progression opportunities I decided that my career wasn't moving as quickly as I would have liked and so I decided to move up North, eventually settling in Newcastle. I started working with Complete One in September 2012. I quickly realised that this was the perfect company to help me achieve my big goals. People were given the opportunity to develop based on individual effort and merit rather than length of service.  Just over a year later, In October 2013, I completed the 4 stage Business Development Programme.  Looking back, I realise how far I have come in such a short time especially given the fact that I had little experience within Marketing or Sales.  I was able to transfer the skills I had acquired when working in retail and at just 20 years old I had managed, with an incredible work ethic and student mentality, to be in a position to oversee my own project.

My goal for 2013 is to head up my own campaign in Newcastle, gaining experience in Campaign Management. In the future I would like to expand into America. I have big goals and I am confident that I will achieve them thanks to the incredible group of people I work with at Complete One.
