For graduates, the hard work that they have invested into their time at university is about to be put to the test as they attempt to integrate themselves into the business world. At Complete One they don’t pre-judge on experience. Complete One Share Why This Year's Graduates Will Find More Opportunities with Start

Newcastle-based Complete One reveal to this year's graduates why they will find better opportunities with small businesses, rather than chasing large organisations.

It's the summer holidays which means one thing for businesses, a fresh influx of graduates have just entered the jobs market and are trying to integrate themselves into the fast-paced business world. Whilst many of these graduates may have their hopes set on a role with an established firm, Complete One share why there are more opportunities with start-ups.

The job market has faced many problems in recent years, particularly a skills shortage. A large number of companies view graduates as too inexperienced due to a lack of 'hands on' experience. When looking for work, many graduates view 'big brands' as the 'safe' option, however Complete One believes these are the ones who are missing out on more progressive, creative roles within smaller companies.

For a lot of young people, working for a big brand won't be the right fit. While it will look good on a CV and the starting salary will no doubt be higher than what a start-up would be able to offer, big brands tend to have a set hierarchy and graduates are less likely to be exposed to the company's decision makers.

Complete One believe graduates should opt for start-ups over well-established brands. Working with a start-up, graduates will gain experience in every part of the business, from finance to sales and marketing which could prove incredibly valuable in future. Working for a small business, roles are often more flexible and individuals have the opportunity to take on more responsibility than in a larger firm.

The firm have outlined their tips for small businesses to compete with big brands when it comes to attracting graduates.

Build a brand

Businesses need to create a brand that is attractive to graduates. The brand should capture the firm's mission, culture, values and vision by creating a story and allowing people to see where they could fit in.

Have an on-going recruitment process

Rather than being reactive and only seeking out talent when a position needs to be filled, Complete One believes to compete with big brands, small businesses should have an on-going recruitment process. This will maintain the company's profile in front of students. Be aware of times when graduates or school leavers will be looking for work placements.

Get noticed

Big businesses have the advantage of large budgets when it comes to recruitment. Complete One urge small businesses to take cost-effective steps to get themselves noticed and get their company out there. This can be done either through giving talks at local events or offering work experience and other opportunities.

Complete One provide a structured career path for the people they work with via their business development program. It is a perfect fit for graduates and those looking to gain business experience. The program teaches all aspects of the firm's internal workings including; administration, brand protection, marketing and sales strategies, motivational and public speaking and project management. Essentially an accelerated learning program, it takes between 6 to 12 months to complete, depending on participant's ability to take on board and apply knowledge, as everyone learns at a different rate. The firm has a proven track record of developing young professionals into successful businessmen and women. They first started with one office in Newcastle when they launched back in 2012 and since then they have expanded massively, now operating in 4 cities across the UK. The firm are blazing a trail through the direct marketing industry and are well on their way to establishing themselves as a market leader. As the firm grows they have incredible opportunities for the individuals they work with to grow simultaneously, gaining invaluable business skills and knowledge along the way.

Should you hire experienced individuals or new graduates? Asks Complete One

With new graduates on the search for work, Complete One looks into whether a company would benefit more from experienced individuals or fresh graduates.

Complete One believes that having a mix of talents within a business can be important. The firm believes that based on the stage of a company, and its available funding, each business is unique and needs different skills to help their business grow and succeed. The firm believes that it can be beneficial to hire seasoned talent along with new graduates. The mix of young and experienced new hires will give the business a much needed platform to boost the business and benefit long term.

Complete One believes that many businesses tend to overlook graduates when it comes to hiring new talent but believes this could be a costly mistake as many graduates can bring fresh ambition and enthusiasm to a business. New ideas can help a business to grow and help motivate other team members. This fresh thinking from graduates is what Complete One believes makes them so valuable to a company.

Complete One prides itself on its fair hiring process. The firm doesn’t pre-judge anyone on education or experience and believes that businesses should hire for potential and then train these individuals to be skilled. Upcoming Summer At Complete One

It's Easter weekend and only two months until the colleges and universities break up for the Summer. At Complete One Summer has traditionally been our best season for growth. We have many students and graduates who apply to work with us as they look to acquire new skills to bolster their CV as well as have some fun and make some money. On the other hand it is a time when graduates are taking their first steps into the business world as they look to get their foot on the career ladder. So why do so many graduates and students choose to work with Complete One? It's simple really, the skills we enable them to master over such a short period of time, is unrivalled in any other industry.

Our business model allows us to accommodate both types of individuals. In 3 short months, between college/university breaking up for the Summer, we are able to provide individuals key skills for future business success that would usually take years to learn in most other industries. Our business is extremely fast paced and it is for that reason we allow people the opportunity to take on extra responsibility so early on and why we have fast tracked learning.

At Complete One our Business Development Program is a perfect solution for graduates looking to put the skills they learned studying into practice. As our client portfolio continues to grow the opportunities for development grow simultaneously.

Complete One Applicants: No Degree? No Problem!

Following the recent announcement that 47% of Graduates are working in jobs not related to their Degree, At Complete One we looked at it from the point of view of individuals entering the job market with no Degree or experience. We believe that companies are losing out on extremely talented individuals because they are over looked for not having the required Degree or experience. Many businesses wont even consider applicants without a Degree, whereas at Complete One we aren't prejudice.

“I believe that there are a lot of extremely talented individuals working with Complete One who wouldn't have even been considered by other businesses.  In my experience, those individuals usually compensate for their lack of experience by bringing a great enthusiasm and passion which has seen many of them blossom into key players in our offices.” ~ Managing Director Glen Lowes

With the New Year right around the corner, a time where many are considering their options and are looking to change careers, we are excited to have the opportunity to find the next wave of talented individuals to help take our business forward and hit our expansion plans for 2014.
