Get the inside scoop from Complete One MD Glen Lowes

Managing Director at Complete One, Glen Lowes recently sat down for a one-on-one interview where he revealed his evolution as a business owner and his goals for the future.

After the firm’s recent expansion into Glasgow, Newcastle-based events promotions firm, Complete One have moved one step closer to their goals for 2016.  Entrepreneur and Managing Director, Glen Lowes took time out of his busy schedule to reveal the inside scoop.

1) What do you think is the biggest factor that has contributed to Complete One’s continued success?

“I think that always wanting to beat ourselves and what I mean by that is every week/month/year we have goals to improve on what we have done before. The name ‘Complete One’ actually comes from the standards that we want to hold ourselves to. This is a goal we have always hit as for every client we have represented we have been their number one provider of customers using the face-to-face channel.”

2) If you could go back and give yourself one piece of advice when you were just starting out, what would it be?

“Networking! This is one thing that I have really invested a lot of time into over the last two years. Firstly, I recommend finding the coaches or mentors that are right for you and define the level you want to get to. Then you have to travel and watch them work. One of my main coaches is currently based in LA and it would have been very easy for me to say it’s too far and make an excuse not to go. Glen in 2012, 2013 and 2014 would have made that excuse, but not today. If you are serious about your goals you will find a way to make it happen.”

3) What motivates you?

“I think it is very easy to become comfortable when you have reached a certain level of success, or what other people would deem success. This is why I like to always re-set goals and set myself new targets.  I stay motivated by constantly setting new goals and pushing myself. Also, my main motivation right now is helping and seeing other people hit and achieve their goals. I love the people I work with, they motivate me so much to come in everyday and improve myself so I can help them.”

4) What are your long-terms goals?

“My long-term goals have changed the past few years since I have educated myself more in business and when I realised what was actually possible. I plan on making Complete One a company that has a global reach.  I have really enjoyed the past few years being able to develop budding entrepreneurs and having interests in other businesses in the same industry. Over the next few years I am planning on investing in other industries such as Entertainment, Property and a Hire company; the details of which I am keeping under my hat just for the time being.

I love setting goals and figuring out how to hit them, it is still the best feeling, it never gets old!”

5) What do you enjoy most about being a business owner?

Being a business owner is something that I have always wanted to be since a young age. I remember the teachers at school telling me that I needed to pass my exams to get a job and I argued back that I didn’t want a job because it would be like having teachers forever.  Don’t get me wrong as a business owner I love learning, but now it’s my choice and my subject.

The thought even as a kid of total freedom and being completely in control of my own future has always excited me. I love being in control of my own future, income, the direction of my company and my career prospects.”

Complete One extend market reach into Glasgow

Newcastle-based events promotions firm, Complete One have extended their market reach into the largest city in Scotland.

Speaking about the new project, Managing Director Glen Lowes revealed the excitement amongst the firm’s contractors. “Any venture into a new market is always met with great excitement and anticipation. We recognise that with growth comes opportunity,” said Mr. Lowes.

The new project in Glasgow sees the firm now possess market reach in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Sheffield. Glasgow is the biggest city in Scotland and the third biggest in the United Kingdom, coming after London and Birmingham. The Greater Glasgow area has a population of 1,199,629 according to the 2001 census. On population alone, Glasgow is a great city for talent acquisition. Crucially there are also a tremendous number of high footfall events and venues in and around the city, which is a coup for the firm operating exclusively events marketing campaigns.

Through the firm’s business development opportunities they have a proven success of developing young professionals into successful businessmen and women. Complete One argues that it is their commitment to education that reaps rewards. By offering on-going advice and guidance through optional workshops, seminars and conferences, Complete One provides the opportunity for their contractors to expand their skill set and acquire knowledge to set them up for future success.
This latest growth spurt puts the firm one step closer to their goals for 2016 as they push to break the £1million turnover barrier. Managing Director Glen Lowes is confident that 2016 will be the firm’s most successful year yet. “We have a client portfolio containing many of the UK’s industry leaders and a group of contractors that are some of the most ambitious and talented that I have ever worked with,” said Mr. Lowes.

Is your business 2016 ready? Complete One reports key changes to be aware of

Complete One urges business owners to stay up to date with key business changes that will be occurring this year to ensure their stability, future prospects and profits are not hindered due to negligence.

2016 has already seen some key business changes announced by the UK government which have had a severe impact on the future of some UK businesses. Moving deeper into the second half of 2016, there will be many more changes happening that businesses need to be aware of that could severely affect business stability, future prospects and profits. Complete One warns businesses that they need to be aware and prepared for more changes including:

The increase of the National Living Wage - In April, 2016, the National Living Wage was increased to £7.20 per hour, which has resulted in a lot of businesses (large and small) having to budget for these changes. Small businesses will have been hit harder because of the limited resources to go around fairly.

Dividend tax regime - Businesses don’t have to pay tax on the first £5,000 of dividends, but new rates have been announced for dividends over that threshold.

Brexit - The UK’s decision to leave the EU in June 2016 will have reverberations on UK businesses because there will be significant changes to trade deals and the UK economy will be in a state of unpredictability due to the level of uncertainty surrounding Britain’s economy.

Visa Debit fees - Changes to the way that Visa Debit fees are calculated will come into force in September 2016.

Complete One Reviews why Rafa Benitez will guide Newcastle United to promotion

With their headquarters just minutes away from St James’ Park, Newcastle-based events promotions firm, Complete One have a keen interest in the fortunes of Newcastle United. The firm are passionate about sport and coaching. Here the firm have revealed why they believe Rafa Benitez will guide Newcastle United to promotion and back into the English Premier League (EPL).

Newcastle is a city that lives and breathes football. The relegation from the EPL was a bitter pill to swallow, however with Rafa Benitez signing on to take charge of the club for a second season, Complete One believes that he will be the man to steer the firm to promotion.

At Complete One they are a company dedicated to the development of the people they work with. They offer coaching and mentoring to allow their contractors to learn, grow and develop. As a firm with a keen interest in coaching, they are taking great interest in the plight of Newcastle United under the guidance of renowned coach, Rafa Benitez.

Benitez joined Real Madrid’s coaching staff at just 26, where he went on to work as the Under 19’s and Reserve Team’s coach and Assistant Manager for the First Team. After Real Madrid’s Benitez had management spells at Real Valladolid and Osasuna - which were both short lived - Benitez guided the second division side, Extremadura back to the first division in his first season in charge. After a not so successful second season, Benitez went on to coach Tenerife in 2000, winning a promotion in his only season. It was back in his homeland that Benitez began to gain notoriety and after being appointed coach of Valencia, he won La Liga in the 2001-02 season and again in 2004, along with a UEFA Cup victory cementing himself as one of the top managers in Spain.

After his success in La Liga, Benitez moved to Liverpool where his most notable achievement was guiding the side to a momentous Champions League victory in 2005. He was named the UEFA Manager of the Year for two consecutive seasons. During his time at Liverpool he also won the FA Cup in 2006 and reached the Champions League Final again in 2007. His best result in the EPL was in the 2008-2009 season when Liverpool clinched second place.

Rafa Benitez is a coach with a strong CV and a history of winning. He also has experience in promotion battles and MD at Complete One; Glen Lowes believes that this will stand him in good stead to get Newcastle United back into the EPL. “It’s going to be an exciting season, Newcastle United have failed to live up to the fans’ expectations for many years now. However with Benitez at the helm I am quietly confident that the side will regain their place in the EPL next season,” said Glen Lowes.

Complete One is an award-winning events promotions firm based in the heart of Newcastle City Centre. Since they launched in 2012 they have extended their market reach into Glasgow, Edinburgh and Sheffield. Complete One Examines the Bizarre Rise of Presenteeism

After a new report revealed that in the UK, the number of people ‘faking the extent of their workloads’ is rising. Complete One has investigated the bizarre trend and delved into the reasons behind this Presenteeism.

A new study revealed that it has become common practice for many people in the UK to work more hours than actually required. In fact, according to a YouGov poll commissioned by global technology company Ricoh, 67 percent of 18 to 26 year olds have confessed to staying late at work after their contracted hours. In other words, over 1.1 million young professionals in the UK fake the amount of their workload. Direct marketing firm Complete One insists that this extent of presenteeism costs businesses a lot of money, however it could be avoided by looking at the reasons why people prefer to stay at work longer than necessary and evaluating current opportunities.

Research also reveals that 39 percent of 18 to 26 years olds feel that working away from the office could have a negative impact on their career progression. In addition to that, 41 percent of young professionals replied that they are under the impression that their bosses favour workers who stay longer at work. “Of course working extra time shows commitment to the company,” says Complete One. “However, it is important to understand why the work load is impossible to manage in the required hours. Productivity doesn’t necessarily increase when staying longer,” adds a spokesperson of Complete One. Working long hours can lead to burnout, stress and loss of motivation; all of which are productivity killers.

The firm believes that in order to manage presenteeism effectively, businesses need to leave the old-fashioned work etiquette behind and start thinking outside the box. Complete One urges businesses to become more flexible and create opportunities in line with performance rather than just presence.

Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Complete One is one of the fastest growing outsourced sales and marketing companies in the North East of the country. In order to eliminate presenteeism and continuously achieve business growth, the firm focuses on offering plenty of opportunities to their contractors to shine and develop their skills. Complete One provides guidance and support and helps their contractors to improve their time management skills and maintain momentum, allowing them to obtain a healthier work-life balance.

With big goals in mind for the remaining year, Complete One is looking to extend their market reach into four new cities and break the £1 million turnover barrier.

Complete One MD Glen Lowes flies out to LA for Reconnaissance Mission

Managing Director at Complete One, Glen Lowes flew out to LA last week to spend time with one of the leading sales and marketing professionals in the industry.

Glen jetted out to Los Angeles to spend 5 days in the company of one of the most prominent professionals in direct sales and marketing industry.  The trip was planned back in May during the 2016 Black Tie Awards Gala in London where Glen received a prestigious accolade, picking up the 20/20 Overall Performance Award.

Travelling over 5000 miles, during the 5-day trip Glen spent the majority of his time at a marketing agency in Orange Country, California.  California is the seventh biggest economy in the world, and the largest in the US.  With a population of 3 million, Orange County is a great location for recruitment due to its deep talent pool.  Glen got first hand experience of how the individual ran his business day to day, his schedule, critical conversations, motivational meetings, development workshops, and team building sessions.  It wasn’t all business though; Glen got to bask in the sunshine of Orange County, visiting Huntington Beach, as well as visiting other notable landmarks the OC had to offer.

Glen is committed to continued personal development as he recognises that this is crucial to the success of Complete One.  He takes advantage of every opportunity to expand his network and to learn from fellow professionals.  During his time in LA he spent time with many budding entrepreneurs and business owners, and got to experience how the industry works in the US.  The trip allowed Glen to form new networking connections and solidify some he made at the Awards Gala.

At Complete One they have big goals for 2016 as they look to extend their market reach into new cities and break the £1million turnover barrier.  The trip to LA provided great insight for Glen, getting to experience the habits and routine of someone who has experience of coaching and mentoring hundreds of entrepreneurs, overseeing over multiple offices and expansion into multiple cities and countries.

“The trip proved to be a huge success and we have made plans to make it a quarterly event.  It’s always really constructive to experience how someone else operates, and having the chance to pick their brain.  I can’t wait to go back!” said Glen.
